Ways to Keep the Disney Alive (At Home)
Anyone that knows me, knows that I'm a huge Disney fan. I can thank my family for that.
Although we don't really frequent the parks as much as we'd like to, we've found curious ways to cure our Disney fever when we're away from our kingdom. I mean, we try to make the most of it when we're feeling away too long from the parks.
#1. Movie Nights
As a countdown to our Disney trips, we plan weekly movie nights. Now, these are more than just simply watching a Disney movie and getting on with our life. No, we go all out. I usually plan them and revolve them around what my siblings like to do. We do activities involving the movie, games, obstacle courses, and cook (most of the time), but everything has to relate back to the movie. Everyone really enjoys them! This forum from DisBoards has helped me so much to get ideas and of course, Pinterest. I will be sure to post about them soon!
#2. Countdowns
The Disney Community on Pinterest is all over these. There are so many creative ones on there! We simply write it on our white board and download countdown apps on our phones and computers. For our phone, we usually use DreamDays or the Disney Cruise Line App and on our computer we use TimeLeft. It helps build up that excitement for the entire family by looking at how many days you have left for your trip! (You also avoid those questions everyday from the kids: "How many more days?" or "How far away is our trip?")
#3. Board Games, Puzzles, Books
We own so many board games, you could say we're kind of obsessed. On those rainy days or long summer days where we are board (Get it? Ok, moving on), we play board games or put together our many Disney puzzles (our favorites are the Panorama ones). Our book collection consists of a bunch of Disney's Wonderful World of Reading books that I've had since I was a kid. They're a quick read that'll help kids with their reading logs in first grade and expand their vocabulary at a young age by reading their favorite fairy tales.
#4. Attire
I have a whole collection of Disney shirts, sweaters, socks, and fanny packs. I'm sure that I'm the only 17 year old in the world that loves wearing Disney fanny packs to the theme parks. Anyways, wearing Disney themed shirts or sweaters has become a growing trend (even Lauren Conrad has come out with a whole Disney collection).
#5. Disney On Ice, Disney Broadway Shows, Movie Theater
We actively go to shows whenever we have a chance. We take advantage of going to these events to keep the Disney magic in our lives. Try to find a location near you in your town. Although this is pricier than staying home, it is cheaper than going to the parks.
#6. Blogs, Social Media
We keep up with our daily Disney news by reading other blogs and looking at our social media. This way we have a connection to our second "home" and we get our daily fix of Disney by looking at the Thingamavlogs Snapchat (if you don't follow them on YouTube, you're missing out).
It isn't absolutely necessary to visit the parks everyday to get your Disney fix, there's so many other events and things that you could do right in your own house. So try some of these out!
**None of these companies, apps, or YouTubers I mentioned are affiliated with me nor was I sponsored, these are all just apart of what I do.
